Role: Safety Advisor

Location: Cochrane, ON (Otter Rapids)

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Site Safety Advisor plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and secure work environment for all personnel at the project site. This position involves actively promoting and implementing safety measures and protocols in compliance with industry regulations and company standards.

Your key responsibilities in this role would include:

·        Conducting regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance with safety regulations.

·        Developing and implementing safety procedures, guidelines, and training programs to enhance site safety awareness and prevent accidents.

·        Collaborating with project stakeholders to establish safety goals, objectives, and performance metrics.

·        Conducting safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors, ensuring their understanding of site-specific safety protocols.

·        Investigating and documenting incidents, near misses, and safety violations, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

·        Monitoring and evaluating subcontractors' safety performance, providing guidance and assistance as needed to ensure adherence to safety requirements.

·        Maintaining accurate safety records, including incident reports, safety training records, and safety equipment inspection logs.

·        Conducting regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to communicate safety updates, address concerns, and foster a safety-conscious culture.

·        Keeping up-to-date with industry best practices, regulations, and emerging trends in site safety and recommending improvements to existing safety programs

As the Site Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in promoting a culture of safety excellence and ensuring the well-being of all individuals involved in the project.

The successful candidate will be a high energy individual who supports the Company’s safety and quality programs, has excellent communication, organizational skills and has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  They must have a strong work ethic, work well within a team environment and be proficient with the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel.  The ideal candidate will have four - five (4 – 5) years of proven experience in the safety, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

There is an expectation to work extended work schedules, which includes holidays and weekends.  Travel away from home will be required.  Preferred candidates will be open to travel and construction project work and be on a defined rotation work schedule.  Competitive living out allowance will be provided.
