Liannu Limited Liability Partnership (Liannu LLP), a subsidiary of Pennecon Ltd., has been awarded a number of contracts at the Voisey’s Bay Mine site in Labrador. The primary work scopes include the mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation outfitting of the recently constructed Paste Plant and Booster Station buildings, as well as, erection of structural steel & installation of architectural components for additional pump houses, Flush house and Transfer stations for the Vale underground mine expansion project in Voisey’s Bay.

Pennecon / Liannu is requesting applications for interested and qualified candidates in the following position:

Role: Operating Engineer (Hoisting Operator), Red Seal

Location: Voisey’s Bay, NL

The successful candidates for this position will assist with the following activities:

  • Assisting direct trades with material/permanent equipment install
  • Interoperate lift plans and safely execute
  • Must possess the ability to assess ground conditions to mobilize crane for the purpose of hoisting
  • Transportation of craft personnel at the beginning and end of shift

Additional minimum requirements are as follows:

  • Red Seal Journeyperson;
  • Valid Class 5 license
  • Must be capable of working at heights and possess current Newfoundland and Labrador Fall arrest training certificate and JLG/Aerial Work Platform training or have the ability to successfully complete those training courses;
  • Ability to use hand and power tools;
  • Fluent in drawing reading and interpretation;
  • Familiarity with rigging;
  • Ability to communicate via radio;
  • Must be capable of working in an Arctic environment;
  • Fit tested and capable of working while wearing full or half face respirators.
  • First aid training.
  • You will be required to work in a construction environment and demonstrate superior safety behaviours in the execution of the work and support the Company’s safety, quality and environment programs.

Previous experience working in an Industrial environment will be an important consideration. All candidates will be required to complete a mandatory criminal background check, as well as, successfully complete a medical and alcohol and drug test, before starting work on the site.

Project Information:

  • Scheduled work rotation: two weeks on, two weeks off.
  • Flights will be provided by the Company.
  • Anticipated duration: 12 months
