We are currently seeking a qualified Electric Motor Systems Technician (Motor Winder) to join our team in St. John’s, NL.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Perform all preliminary testing and results interpretation to determine the condition of AC and DC rotating apparatuses, electrically & mechanically, and have the ability to document findings in detail (in shop and field)
  • Disassembly of all types of AC and DC rotating apparatus
  • Inspect bearings, shafts, bushings, commutator etc., for wear and defects
  • Perform all rewind operations on AC and DC equipment
  • Weld or braze components
  • Perform all electrical testing according to standard specifications
  • VPI and Dip and bake operations
  • Rotor balancing
  • Re-assemble and document findings/results for all types of AC and DC rotating apparatus
  • Final testing and report generation
  • Read and interpret blueprints/sketches/specifications

  Qualifications:

  • Electric Motor Systems Technician (EMST) Trade Certification would be an asset
  • Candidates with other trade certifications and demonstrated experience will be considered
  • At least 5 years’ direct experience with AC/DC hands on winding is required
  • Self-motivated individual with knowledge and experience of operating principles and the use of various industry standard precision measuring tools and equipment as well as hand and power tools
  • Experience in inspecting, troubleshooting, re-assembly and testing
  • Strong personal commitment to safety
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Proven ability to work independently and in team environment
