Pennecon Heavy Civil has been awarded the Grizzly Bear Creek Wind Farm Project, located close to the town of Vermillion, AB. Pennecon’s scope of work will include construction of various Project components including tower erection, access road and turbine pad construction, public road upgrades, concrete foundation construction, and collection system installation.
As we ramp up with this project, we are seeking motivated and talented individuals who possess the technical skills required to contribute to a heavy civil project team.
Role: Heavy Equipment Operator - Loader (CAT 966 / Komatsu 470)
Location: Vermillion, AB
This position requires operators for site servicing and assisting with earthworks operations. Site servicing will consist of utilizing forks or jib booms for loading/unloading trailers, moving equipment/material throughout site. Earthworks operation will consist of transporting soils and loading haul trucks for construction of turbine foundation pads.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
- Daily pre and post trip inspections
- Daily maintenance such as checking fluids and greasing machine
- Work safely and efficiently managing material and maintaining production goals
- Safely travelling to/from work locations
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliance legislation
- Adhered to Environmental Policy with respect to Clubroot management & working near wetlands
- Possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a team
The Ideal Applicant for this position will possess the following:
Required Education and Experience
- Must have Heavy Equipment Training
- Traction Engine endorsement 08 or International equivalent
- 3+ years operating loaders for earthworks and site services activities
- Strong understanding of earthworks operations and proper techniques transporting/loading material
- Experience operating CAT and Komatsu loaders
- Ability to make good decisions working in fast paced environment working in close proximity to equipment and people
Additional Requirements
- WHMIS, Power Line Hazards, CSTS and Ground Disturbance
Work Schedule and Conditions
- Working Time - 10-12hrs per day based on 20 day on and 10 days off rotation. Project schedule may vary for specific work scopes.
