Role: Cost Engineer  
Location: St. John's, NL 

The day-to-day responsibilities will be:

  • Develop, track and maintain progress tracking tools and curves;
  • Assist in assigning specific project codes of accounts (WBS);
  • Bi-Weekly / Monthly Project reporting (tracking of baseline versus actual vs. forecast) for Management/Client review;
  • Analysis and identification of project deviations from the baseline plan for team review;
  • Capturing changes in scope of work, and updating schedule / cost estimates to reflect revised project scope;
  • Provide reports on weekly labour performance, weekly cost, labor project by task, project status, project revenue and expenses by task, project cost summaries by discipline, unit rate PF curves and equipment and materials expenditure summary by task code;
  • Proactively communicate project change management
  • Establish and maintain Trend/Change order log;
  • Actively participate in bi-weekly or monthly reviews of all cost controls deliverables with the project team and other stakeholders

Qualifications of the role will include:

  • Engineering Degree or technical engineering diploma, preferably in mechanical or electrical;
  • 5+ years of experience in a cost reporting position, or a combination of major project experience leading to this;
  • Highly adept at MS Excel, and in creating tracking sheets;
  • Experience working in a construction environment where responsiveness and ability to work and adapt to varying environments will be critical
  • Expectation that this is a predominately field based position, ability to work in all weather elements;
  • Organizational, time management, and effective communication skills with an attention to detail, a strong work ethic and a positive team attitude

Previous experience working in an Industrial environment will be an important consideration. You will be required to work in a construction environment and demonstrate superior safety behaviours in the execution of the work and support the Company’s safety, quality and environment programs.
