Pennecon has been awarded the Quartz Creek Bridge Replacement project which is part of the Highway 1 Kamloops to Alberta program. This project involves replacing the two-lane bridge crossing at Quartz Creek, 40 km west of Golden, BC, with a new four-lane bridge, access improvements to forest service roads and widening 4.4 km of two-lane highway to four lanes.
We are now looking for the following position to join our team:
Role: Heavy Equipment Operator - Excavator (30- 50T)
Location: Golden, BC
This position requires operators with knowledge of topsoil stripping, granular placement, ditching and managing cut/ fill operations in clay material.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
- Daily pre and post trip inspections
- Daily maintenance of equipment such as checking fluids and greasing machine
- Work safely and efficiently managing material and maintaining production goals
- Safely travelling and setting up at work location
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies, regulations and compliance legislation
- Adhered to Environmental Policy with respect to Clubroot management & working near wetlands
- Possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team
The Ideal Applicant for this position will possess the following:
Required Education and Experience
- Must have Heavy Equipment Training
- 5+ years operating 30-50T Excavators in production environments
- Strong understanding of earthworks operations; Topsoil Stripping, Foundation Excavations/Backfilling and Drainage Systems
- Road building experience including working adjacent to highway traffic
- Experience operating CAT and Komatsu excavators
- Experience road building and fine grade sloping
- Able to carry grade
- Ability to use GPS Machine Control technology
- Able to make good decisions working in fast paced environment working in close proximity to other equipment and people
- Experience working in close proximity to various underground and overhead utilities
Additional Requirements
- WHMIS, Power Line Hazards, CSTS and Ground Disturbance
Work Schedule
- Working Time - 10 per day based on 6 days on and 1 days off rotation. OT paid after 8 hours, OT at 1.5x Saturday, and OT at 2.0x Sunday if required.
