Our Human Resources team within our Corporate office is seeking qualified applicants for the following role:

Human Resources Advisor
Location: St. John’s, NL

We currently have an opportunity for a Human Resources Advisor to join our HR team. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, HR & Corporate Support, this position will be a key role in the growth and facilitation of our HR programs and services that we offer internally to all our business units.

The successful candidate will bring with them a “can-do” and positive facilitation mindset. The key programs needing to be reviewed will be on our Talent Management strategy, employee engagement, and overall employee experience which will leads to a happier and more productive team.

Duties of the role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate talent programs designed to elevate the employee experience, either through the development of new initiatives or the improvement of existing ones, such as onboarding, continuous performance management, mentoring, etc;
  • Partners with business units to promote talent management strategies, identify gaps, and plan processes to support growth;
  • Organize and design career progression plans with roles in all departments, outlining pathways for skills development and success;
  • Monitor and manage the overall employee and manager experience to ensure it is professional, positive, and reflective of Pennecon’s values. Research, recommend and implement enhancement strategies as appropriate;
  • Provide continuous coaching and leadership to management and employees;
  • Support and run orientations and employee engagement activities;
  • Reviewing equity, diversity, and inclusion best practices, highlighting trends, and making recommendations within the organization;
  • Provide analytical and well cited reports to the management team;
  • Recruitment support as needed

The successful candidate will bring to Pennecon the following:

  • Bachelor Business Administration / Commerce or Business Diploma, with a concentration in human resources;
  • 5+ years’ experience working within a human resources position, with a focus on talent manaement;
  • CPHR designation is considered an asset;
  • Prominent exposure to talent management programs, performance management tools, competency development, and succession planning;
  • Experience implementing and supporting companywide programs and projects within a complex organization;
  • Proven ability to coach, create trust and build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization;
  • Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills and strong stakeholder engagement skills;
  • Ability to shift and prioritize tasks on a moments notice depending on organizational need
