Pennecon Heavy Civil has been awarded the Grizzly Bear Creek Wind Farm Project, located close to the town of Vermillion, AB. Pennecon’ s scope of work will include construction of various Project components including tower erection, access road and turbine pad construction, public road upgrades, concrete foundation construction, and collection system installation

As we ramp up with this project, we are seeking motivated and talented individuals who possess the technical skills required to contribute to a heavy civil project team. 

Role: Civil Field Coordinator / Engineer

Location: Vermillion, AB

The successful candidates will work in the field and be responsible to support the Company’s safety, quality and environmental programs, in the execution of the work.  Duties include:

  • Create work packs for the installation of the work in accordance of the schedule;
  • Review and control of issued for construction drawings and revisions to them as it pertains to the work installation and what is affected with revisions;
  • Assist with technical and material issues;
  • Issue RFIs and follow up with resolution to field;
  • Ensure that any additional work is priced and submitted;
  • Ensure that equipment and material is available as required to meet schedule;
  • Monitor quality of work packages and accurate reporting of progress;
  • Ensure timely completion of inspections and that sign-off forms are completed;
  • Responsible to inform construction of any work deficiencies;
  • Responsible for timely release of work to next phase of construction;
  • Responsible for material procurement on an as needed basis, including performing accurate material takeoffs;
  • Responsible for daily progress tracking, including quantity/production estimates, daily cost analysis, and progress reporting;
  • Working in conjunction with Quality Engineer’s to compile and maintain turnover documents;
  • Witness, review, and coordinate Third Party material testing as well as survey requirements;
  • General supervision of Engineering work term students.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience as a Field Engineer or equivalent role. 

The successful candidate is passionate about the work they do and has excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and computer skills; with a commitment to safe work practices and are an effective team player with a positive attitude.  Experience working in a Construction environment where responsiveness and ability to work and adapt to varying environments will be critical in this role. There is an expectation to work extended work schedules, which includes holidays and weekends. 

Travel away from home will be required.  Preferred candidates will be open to travel and construction project work, and be on a defined rotation work schedule.  Competitive living out allowance will be provided. 

Once this project has clued up, with the increased projects load in Western Canada, there's a high likelihood of placement on a subsequent project.
