Pennecon Hydraulic Systems is the leading supplier of fluid power components, services and systems in Atlantic Canada.  With offices in both Paradise, NL and Dartmouth, NS, we play a role in the eastern Canada oil and gas, industrial, mining, construction, forestry and marine markets.

Pennecon Hydraulic Systems, NS is currently seeking applications for an open Applications Engineer out of our Dartmouth, NS office. The Application Engineer (AP) will manage a project from quotation through to turnover.  The Application Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates preparation of quotation, proposals, design, project documentation such as engineering drawings, production specifications and schedules, and contract modifications. The role must ensure that customer contract requirements are met by facilitating the sales process by promoting Pennecon services to potential and existing customers.

As an Applications Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Receiving and process RFQ from the beginning to the end of the sales cycle, ensuring all client requirements are met;
  • Reviewing contracts to determine documentation for defined work scopes and projects;
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders to prepare appropriate contract documentation and contract schedules;
  • Scheduling due dates for drawings, specifications, software, technical manuals, and other documents;
  • Providing Applications Engineering support and maintaining a working knowledge of all active projects within the company and region;
  • Generating proposals, process designs, Electro-hydraulic schematics, General Arrangements (GAs) and final bid proposals;
  • Providing technical support to designated sales staff;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with regional customers and vendors;
  • Assisting Sales Team with sales calls, design kick-off meetings, off site reviews, and consulting;

To be successful within this position, you will bring the following:

  • Engineering diploma or degree or Certified Fluid Power Technician
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a technical industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of client demands and need for highly defined documentation
  • Have a thorough technical knowledge of mobile & heavy equipment including hydrostatic, load sense, pressure compensated and fixed displacement systems;
  • Ability to travel within the province, and potentially beyond on client projects
