Pennecon Technical Services is currently seeking applications for the following position:

Position: Rotating Equipment Technician - Mechanical

Location: St. John’s, NL

Some duties of this position will include;

  • Assemble and repair all types of pumping and mechanical rotating equipment;
  • Operation of equipment such as: lathes, milling machines, boring machines, drill presses;
  • Perform laser alignment and vibration analysis of mechanical equipment and complete corrective maintenance;
  • Use vibration technology for analysis of problems & predictive maintenance;
  • Work hands-on with various types of pumps;
  • Conduct failure analysis (where applicable) and determine repair feasibility;
  • Identify parts required for repairs against schematic and parts lists and prepare initial inspection report and recommendations;
  • Develop and maintain electronic reports, drawings, Q.A. records and associated mechanical equipment documentation in an organized manner.
  • Assess equipment and tooling requirements for mechanical service shop area;
  • Ensure customer, OEM and industry requirements are met;
  • Provide support with AC/DC Motors, generators, and compressors.
  • Offshore travel may be required. Offshore certification would be an asset (i.e. BST, medical, H2S, WHMIS).

 

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with experience in the operation of large lathes, vertical milling machines, horizontal hones and various other hand and power tools. In addition, the selected candidate will have 5 years of experience in maintenance and mechanical systems.  They will also be well organized, have excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to work independently without close supervision.

The selected candidate will be a Journeyperson Millwright and/or Machinist, or will have an acceptable combination of relevant education and experience.  Preference will be given to candidates who are dual ticketed Machinist/Millwright trained.  Experience in troubleshooting, determining root cause failure analysis for gearboxes, pumps, motors and mechanical systems and experience with Rotalign Ultra Laser Alignment will be essential in this position. The ideal candidate will also have a strong personal safety culture and will be a leader in their field.
