Pennecon is currently seeking qualified candidates for the following role:

 

Payroll Clerk 

Location: St. John’s, NL

 

The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for both unionized and non-unionized employees, performing various clerical and accounting tasks such as data management and ensuring employee payroll files and information is up to date.  Other responsibilities in this role will include; processing CRA remittances, union dues, HAPSET and RRSP’s, assist with the processing of T4s and reconciliations of the general ledger accounts relating to payroll on a monthly basis. This position is the point of contact for all payroll and group benefits administration related inquiries from employees, management and third parties.  The Payroll Clerk will be expected to maintain an internal database of employee information for group insurance premiums and registered retirement savings programs, while maintaining strict employee confidentially. The Payroll Clerk is a member of the accounting team and will provide support to other roles within the department as required.

 

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary diploma (or degree) in a relevant field of study and at least three years of experience in payroll administration, or an acceptable combination of relevant education and experience.  The selected candidate will have a strong knowledge of government legislation and employment standards as they relate to payroll and accounting. The successful candidate will have attention to detail, exceptional customer service, organizational, and time management skills. Experience working within the construction sector would be considered an asset in this role.

Please note - this position will be on a 12 month contract, with opportunity for extension.
