Pennecon Technical Services is currently seeking qualified applications for the following position:

Position: Crane Services Technician

Location: Corner Brook, NL

Reporting to the Crane Services Manager, the Crane Technician will be responsible for being out in the field working with all types of customers and industries across the province (Offshore, marine, and mining to name a few). The crane team within Pennecon is mature, and we are looking to build now on an already established market presence. Job size and complexity will vary depending on the customer. We are looking for someone who has a keen eye for crane detail and likes to fix technical challenges. Some other duties of this position will include:

  • Troubleshoot issues on varying overhead cranes and hoists;
  • Perform assigned preventive  and corrective maintenance repairs;
  • Conduct load certification tests and inspection of overhead cranes and hoists;
  • Ensure organization and documentation of certifications for equipment;
  • Analyze the safety of equipment and recommend design modifications;
  • Respond to all customer inquiries with professionalism;
  • Prepare repair reports and time sheets;
  • Accompany management personnel for occasional field walk-through, customer calls and follow-ups;

The successful candidate will have:

  • Recognized trade qualification in either journeyperson’s electrician or millwright;
  • Preferences will be given to certified technicians with a working knowledge of CSA B167-16;
  • Familiarity with wire rope hoists and chain hoists and their respective maintenance routines, but open to training with the right background;
  • Have at minimum 4000 hours of direct experience working on the maintenance, repair, or manufacture of cranes or hoists;
  • Experience working from heights, and have full knowledge of crane and hoisting equipment and material;
  • Ability to work with, and communicate with a multitude of client stakeholder groups with competing priorities;
  • Past experience troubleshooting issues with overhead cranes – this predominately would come from backgrounds in electrical and mechanical;
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality standards
